System Administration

Experience with low and high volume Linux system administration and configuration. Years of experience compiling, installing and configuring Apache (with SSL), PHP, MySQL, qmail and related packages. Highlights

Administered and setup the Sipus search backfill which supported the delivery of over 1,000,000 search results daily. Used MySQL, Apache and PHP, developed custom statistics tracking software.

Adminstered and setup hosting services which support multiple terabytes of traffic per month with over 300,000,000 hits each month. Key features include; custom, high-traffic optimized Apache and PHP, logfile rotation scripts and high-volume statistics tracking software.

Have installed and setup many robust, full-featured qmail servers. Some supporting many thousands of clients and virtual domains - many on low cost server hardware. Servers have run for long uninterrupted periods without service. Many handling millions of email transactions daily.

Implemented and configured multi-homed ISP backbone routers using custom built Linux/Zebra boxes using BGP and OSPF protocols. Co-ordinated multiple ARIN allocated netblocks, with associated reverse-dns services. Manged routing and reverse-dns delegations for sub-delegated IP blocks from upstream backbone providers.
